We also asked a series of other questions to help you get insight into our studio and community.

      1. What are your classes like?

FUN! We were nervous at first as we’d mainly danced with each other but we very quickly gained confidence by dancing with a variety of partners. Our instructors are fabulously talented and break down even the trickiest of moves to be so achievable by all. Humour abounds with lots of jokes and laughter as we learn. It is literally the most fun part of our week.

      2. What do you like about classes?

Rotating partners to learn to dance with a variety of partners is really helpful to improve but it’s also been great to build friendships in and out of class. We go to three consecutive classes and we love it how they layer on each other with added levels of difficulty to add depth of understanding of the new moves being taught. We really appreciate the feedback we get from our instructors and the reciprocal communication.

      3. What parts of our community do you connect with most?

The people. Our dancing night is our favourite night of the week, not just for the learning but for the social aspect. It feels like one big family.

      4. What have been your biggest accomplishments at Rio Rhythmics (or in life regarding dancing)?

A confidence to dance with anyone. Feeling like we could dance for hours with our newfound dance skills. We dance together at home for connection after we’ve both had a busy day at work, it’s how we reconnect because we can chat face to face, laugh and learn together.

Our goal was to be able to learn a few more turns to dance with each other, which we achieved within such a short space of time. Now we get so much joy out of learning and enjoy the Rio Rhythmics community so much that we can’t imagine not going to classes.

      5. Who are some of your biggest inspirations within Rio Rhythmics?

Initially it was our daughter and her growth in confidence and dance ability. Since starting classes our instructors smooth dancing skills inspire us each week by making something that looks tricky attainable with each lesson. Also watching the more experienced dancers and dancing with them adds inspiration.

      6. Which is your favourite dance style and why?

Bachata - it’s fun, it can be fast or slow, exciting or sensual- it has it all!

      7. What’s the most unique part about dancing at Rio Rhythmics?

The sense of community and connections with people.
